Railway Job 2026: Big gift of government job in Railways, paving the way for direct recruitment on more than 6,500 posts.

The Railway Board under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India has given the green signal to start the bumper recruitment process for the posts of Technician for the year 2026. After this decision, soon official notification for thousands of posts will be issued by the Railway Recruitment Board, which will give unemployed youth a golden opportunity to serve in the government sector.

A total of 6,565 posts will be reinstated, Railway Board issued instructions

According to the official letter released by the Railway Board, this year Centralized Employment Notification (CEN) will be issued for recruitment to a total of 6,565 posts. The Board has ordered all the Zonal Railways and Production Units (PUs) across the country to closely assess the vacant technician posts in their respective zones and send the final proposal to the Board at the earliest. Through this recruitment drive, Railways will appoint skilled technicians in 39 different categories, which will not only strengthen the department but will also see a big improvement in the facilities and services provided to the passengers.

Vacancies in ECR zone also, youth of Patna-Muzaffarpur will get opportunity

Under this recruitment process, important vacancies have also been fixed for East Central Railway (ECR) zone. According to the information received, currently details of 186 vacancies have been sent in the ECR zone, which includes vacancies in major cities like Patna, Muzaffarpur and Ranchi. Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Bengaluru has been entrusted with the responsibility of coordinating this entire process so that the recruitment notification is issued within the time limit. The Board has clarified that all zonal units will have to submit their final demands through the OIRMS portal within a week.

Reservation rules will be followed and recruitment process will be simplified.

Railways has adopted a new strategy to make recruitment transparent and simple. This time, a unified notification will be issued by combining the posts with similar medical standards, educational qualification and technical qualification together. Apart from this, the reservation standards prescribed for SC, ST, OBC and EWS categories will be fully followed in the recruitment. In this, complete account of backlog (old pending vacancies) and current vacant posts is being kept. Selected candidates will be allotted different railway zones and departments based on their performance and preference, so that the youth can also have the opportunity to work near their home area.
