UP’s big leap in solar installation… record 52,729 installations in March, capacity crosses 1161 MW
Lucknow, Read: The state has achieved a major achievement in the field of solar energy in the financial year 2025-26 by installing 3,47,729 rooftop solar plants. During this period, the total installed capacity reached 1161.756 MW, which shows the rapid progress of the state towards green energy.
As per month-wise data, April 2025 started with 15,836 installations, which reached 18,509 in May and 18,494 in June. A big jump was recorded in July with 29,850 installations and thereafter the momentum continued in August-September. After a slight decline in October, a rise was seen again in November (30,894) and December (31,164).
Record jump in the last quarter
A record 33,314 plants were set up in January 2026, 35,804 in February and 52,729 in March. In March alone, 173.84 MW capacity was added, which is the largest increase so far in a single month. UPNEDA Director Inderjit Singh said that this growth in the last quarter is the result of government policies, subsidies and effective implementation. Due to this, cheap and clean energy is being available to the consumers.
UP tops in PM Surya Ghar free electricity scheme
The state has now become the leading state of the country in PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. Overall, 4,48,233 rooftop solar plants have been installed in the state so far, from which more than 1524 MW electricity is being produced every day.
