Russian delegation led by Vladimir Yakushev meets Lok Sabha Speaker!
An important meeting was held on Thursday to further strengthen the strategic partnership between India and Russia. Om Birla held extensive discussions with the Russian parliamentary delegation at the Parliament House, which included important issues like trade, technology, cultural relations and parliamentary cooperation.
Vladimir Yakushev was present on behalf of Russia in this meeting, who is on an official visit to India from 2 to 4 April. Both leaders stressed on furthering the “deep and time-tested” India-Russia relations.
During the meeting, Om Birla said that relations between India and Russia are based on trust and mutual respect, and parliamentary cooperation is an important pillar of these relations. He also stressed the need to increase people-to-people connect and further strengthen parliamentary dialogue.
During this, Secretary (East) of the Ministry of External Affairs Periyasamy Kumaran and other officials were also present. After the meeting, Birla shared the information on social media platform X and said that both sides have agreed to increase cooperation in many important areas.
Head of the Russian delegation Vladimir Yakushev during his visit to S. Will also meet Jaishankar and other Indian MPs. During this, issues like trade, economic cooperation, parliamentary relations and cultural partnership will be discussed in detail.
Meanwhile, Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov also reached New Delhi on Thursday morning. High-level talks are likely to take place on defence, energy, trade and other bilateral issues during his visit.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs, this visit will focus on giving a new direction to India-Russia relations and especially on further strengthening defense and security cooperation. Also, the ongoing tension in West Asia and its global implications can also become a major topic of discussion in these meetings.
