Bangladesh High Commissioner Riyaz Hamidullah met Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi, discussed bilateral defense cooperation

New Delhi. Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Riyaz Hamidullah held talks with Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on defense cooperation. Hamidullah and Dwivedi discussed enhancing bilateral defense cooperation, including joint training initiatives. The Indian Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information said M Hamidullah, Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to India, met Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi. During the talks, they discussed enhancing bilateral defense cooperation, including joint training initiatives. They also discussed opportunities for deeper cooperation aimed at promoting regional peace and security.

Earlier on March 27, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh stressed the strength of India-Bangladesh relations. Addressing the National Day Reception organized on the occasion of Bangladesh’s 56th Independence and National Day at the Bangladesh High Commission in the national capital, he described the partnership as strategic and people-centric. It was also termed as flexible and future-oriented. In his address on Thursday, Singh highlighted India’s shared history, deep cultural ties and commitment to cooperation with its eastern neighbour. Hamidullah Addressing dignitaries and members of the diplomatic community, Singh said Bangladesh’s Independence Day is a testament to the spirit of self-determination and extraordinary resilience of the Bangladeshi people. They also paid tribute to the deep shared legacy of the 1971 liberation war and reiterated India’s support for peace, stability and prosperity in the region. The Minister of State for External Affairs said that Bangladesh’s Independence Day is a defining moment in our shared history. It is a testament to the spirit of self-determination and extraordinary resilience of our people. The Liberation War of 1971 and the sacrifices made in the struggle against exploitation, oppression and hatred remain a common heritage for India and Bangladesh. These deep bonds of solidarity remain the foundation of our bilateral partnership, which is based on trust, shared values ​​and a shared commitment to peace, stability and prosperity in our region.
