IIT Delhi Opens MTech Admissions with Self-Sponsored Seats
IIT Delhi announced the opening of MTech admissions for the academic year 2026-27, introducing self-sponsored seats to widen access for national candidates.
The Institute will offer up to 30 per cent supernumerary seats under this category for students holding a valid GATE score. Candidates admitted through self-sponsored seats will not receive Institute Assistantship initially, though conversion remains possible later under institutional norms.
The admission process began on March 21, 2026, at 12:00 noon, and will close on April 11, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. Written tests and interviews for shortlisted candidates will take place between May 13 and June 15, 2026. Orientation for new postgraduate students is scheduled for July 18, followed by registration on July 18–19. Classes will commence on July 23, 2026.
IIT Delhi also announced special provisions for students from Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs). Those graduating with a CGPA of 8.0 or higher can apply for MTech programmes without a GATE score. This measure aims to encourage participation from high-performing students across India.
Applicants must submit their online applications and pay the required fee before the deadline. Detailed eligibility criteria, selection procedures, and conversion conditions are available in the official IIT Delhi Information Brochure.
