Vedanta Production in FY26: Aluminum and Zinc production broke records, know who gave the shock?

Vedanta Production in FY26: Mining company Vedanta Limited has reported excellent operational performance for the financial year 2025-26. The main reason for this was the record level of production in aluminium, zinc and some special industrial segments throughout the year.

On the contrary, the company’s oil and gas production remained under pressure. In FY26, the company recorded its highest ever annual alumina production, reaching 2.916 million tonnes. This is an increase of 48% compared to last year. In an exchange filing, the company attributed this increase mainly to the huge increase in production at its Lanjigarh refinery. Aluminum production also reached its highest ever level of 2.456 million tonnes. This achievement was mainly due to improvement in operational efficiency. This is an increase of 1% compared to last year.

Production of mined metal under Hindustan Zinc’s operations reached a record high of 1.114 million tonnes, an increase of 2% over the previous year. This growth was driven by better quality of ore and higher production volumes. On a quarterly basis, mined metal production hit a record 315,000 tonnes. Refined zinc production increased by 3% to 851,000 tonnes.

Decline in silver production

On the other hand, silver production declined by 9% year-on-year, falling to 627 tonnes. In other segments, Vedanta recorded record production of 895,000 tonnes of pig iron in FY26, up 10% from last year. Meanwhile, copper cathode production increased by 15% to 170,000 tonnes. Ferro chrome production increased by 21% to 101,000 tonnes, helped by greater availability of ore. According to the company, electricity sales increased by 14% year-on-year, reaching 1,857.1 crore units.

Vedanta’s oil and gas production remained weak in FY 2026. Average daily gross operated production declined by 16% to 87.2 kboepd compared to last year. The main reason for this was the natural decline in production from aging oil fields.

march quarter performance

Vedanta Limited showed a mixed performance during the January-March 2026 quarter. While the company’s aluminum and zinc production increased, iron ore, steel and oil and gas production declined. During the quarter, total aluminum production recorded a growth of 2 percent.

In the oil and gas sector, the company’s average daily gross operated production fell 15 percent to 81,500 barrels of oil per day. In the March quarter, salable iron ore production declined by 3 per cent, while salable steel production registered a marginal decline of one per cent.
