US Losses in Iran War, Pilot Missing
The ongoing conflict with Iran in the Middle East is no longer just a military conflict, but is becoming a major political test for Donald Trump. According to TOI report, the loss of at least six American aircraft and the disappearance of one pilot amid the war has made the situation extremely serious. This issue is now raising questions on global politics and America’s military strategy.
The Pentagon has confirmed that a high-risk rescue operation is being conducted inside enemy territory. But this mission is not limited to saving just one pilot. This is a test of the image of Trump, which he has cultivated over the years as a ‘strong and invincible leader’.
Did American air losses increase concern?
America has suffered more losses than expected in the increasing conflict with Iran. This week itself, apart from an F-15E fighter jet and A-10 attack aircraft, an AWACS aircraft and three other F-15 aircraft were destroyed in ‘friendly fire’. According to US officials, one F-15 pilot was rescued, but the other is still missing. The pilot of the A-10 aircraft took the damaged aircraft to Kuwait airspace and after ejecting, it was evacuated safely. During the rescue mission, two American helicopters also came under Iranian firing, due to which the soldiers aboard were injured.
Are Trump’s statements provoking the situation further?
Donald Trump did not comment directly on the incident, but his social media post certainly sparked controversy. While sharing a video, he wrote that ‘Iran’s biggest bridge has collapsed, it will never be used again.’ Apart from this, he warned that ‘I had already warned Iran. Now only 48 hours are left. If they do not compromise or open HORMUZ, they will create hell in Iran. So, amidst these statements, the absence of mention of the missing pilot from the American side is raising many questions.
Are Trump’s old criticisms now weighing heavily on him?
Trump has always targeted the foreign policy of his predecessors. He described Jimmy Carter as weak over the Iran hostage crisis and claimed that he would have resolved such a situation ‘in 24 hours.’ Similarly, he had called Joe Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan ‘the biggest insult to America’. He also strongly criticized George W Bush’s Iraq war and Barack Obama’s Iran nuclear deal. Now critics say that the current situation is the same which Trump used to say would never happen during his tenure.
Is the missing pilot the biggest risk?
The situation regarding the missing American pilot has become very sensitive. Iran has intensified the search for him and has even announced a reward on him. If the pilot is captured and used for propaganda, it could be a big blow to America. Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Baker Ghalibaf sarcastically said that ‘Earlier America was talking about big victories. But now the situation has become such that he is requesting to find his own pilots, which means the entire strategy seems to be failing.
Will Trump’s credibility decide the rescue mission?
American Special Forces are trying to find the pilot with the help of surveillance and electronic warfare. Military experts believe that time is very important. This mission is no longer just a military operation. This has become a real test of Trump’s credibility and leadership ability. If the mission is successful, his ‘strong leader’ image will be further strengthened. But failure can give a big blow to his political branding over the years.
