Three arrested after alleged attack on Shashi Tharoor’s vehicle in Kerala

An alleged attack on the vehicle of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor in Kerala’s Wandoor has led to the arrest of three individuals, police said on Saturday. The incident occurred late Friday night while the MP was on his way to attend an election rally.

According to police officials, a case has been registered against five people based on a complaint filed by Mr. Tharoor’s gunman and driver. The incident took place at Chellithode near Wandoor, where the convoy encountered a group of individuals travelling on two motorcycles.

Preliminary findings suggest that the group blocked the MP’s vehicle on a narrow stretch of road and began verbally abusing the occupants over what was described as a road obstruction. When the gunman attempted to clear the way, both he and the driver were allegedly assaulted.

Authorities confirmed that three suspects have been taken into custody, while efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the remaining accused. No official statement has indicated any serious injuries to the MP.

Mr. Tharoor was travelling to campaign for Congress candidate A. P. Anil Kumar in Wandoor at the time of the incident.

Police said further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events and determine any additional involvement.
