Jan Vishwas Bill 2026: Now jail for more than 700 minor crimes.

A big step has been taken towards making law and order in the country easy and convenient for the people. The Public Trust (Amendment Provisions) Bill 2026 has been passed by both houses of the Parliament.

New Delhi: Parliament has passed the Public Trust (Amendment) Bill 2026, which aims to make law and order in the country simple and convenient for common citizens. Under this bill, jail sentences have now been abolished in more than 700 minor crimes and a provision for monetary fines (fines) has been made in their place.

Improvement in more than 700 crimes

A total of 784 provisions have been changed in the bill, out of which 717 have been decriminalized. This means no more jail time for delays in documents, technical glitches related to licensing, or other minor rule violations. Such cases will be settled through fines, due to which common citizens and businessmen will have to make less visits to the courts.

Relief in driving license and other administrative matters

Under this bill, positive changes will be seen in everyday life also. For example, there will no longer be a fear of jail in cases of delay in driving license, lack of paperwork, or minor rule violations. The aim of the government is that instead of giving strict punishment for small mistakes, people should get a chance to improve and administrative work should be expedited.

Changes in health and business sectors

Jan Vishwas Bill 2026 will also impact the health sector and business. Minor violations in the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Food Safety and Standards Act will now attract fines instead of jail. Under the Clinical Establishment Act, it will be easier for hospitals and healthcare companies to follow the rules. This step will avoid unnecessary fear and punishment in the health and business sectors and improve the business environment and quality of services.

The government says that this bill will reduce the burden on small cases on the courts. Now an adjudication system has been created for small cases, where only authorized officers will be able to hear and take decisions. This will not only lead to speedy disposal of cases but will also make the justice system more effective and reliable.

Importance of Jan Vishwas Bill

  • Relief for common citizens: No jail sentence for minor crimes, only fine.
  • Simple process for businesses: No fines, no jail for delay in licensing and paperwork.
  • Convenience to health sector: Easy compliance for hospitals and pharma companies.
  • Less pressure on judiciary: The number of cases pending in courts will reduce.

The government has said that this bill is an important step towards making the law and administration in the country friendly to the people. Now, settlement of small violations through fines will make the life of common people simpler and the justice system will become more prompt and transparent.
