Maruti Brezza Facelift To Skoda Kylaq Sportlline

The Tata Nexon sub-compact SUV is one of the most popular and highest-selling SUVs in the segment in India. However, to shake its dominance, a number of new SUVs will be making their debut in India in the coming months. Today, we are presenting you with a list of 11 upcoming SUVs which will rival the Tata Nexon in the coming months. Be sure to read till the end.

The first SUV on this list is the facelifted iteration of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza. This time around, we will be seeing some major mechanical upgrades which will make it much more competitive than before. Its biggest highlight will be the addition of a new 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo petrol engine, which will produce around 99 PS and 147 Nm of torque.

This engine will offer better drivability and improved torque compared to the current 1.5-litre naturally aspirated motor. At the same time, Maruti is expected to continue offering the 1.5-litre petrol engine as well. Another major update will be the introduction of a new 6-speed manual gearbox.

It will improve highway cruising experience and also the fuel efficiency. Additionally, the Brezza is also expected to get an underbody-mounted CNG tank. With this setup, the boot space will free up and the practicality of the SUV will improve. Other upgrades could include a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen, ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera, and more. Pricing is expected to increase slightly from the current range of Rs 8.25 to Rs 13.01 lakh.

Next on the list is the Skoda Kylaq Sportline. The most popular SUV in the Skoda lineup later this year, in the second half, will become sportier with the launch of the Sportline version, like its sibling Kushaq Sportline. It will get some minor cosmetic upgrades like a gloss black grille, black roof rails, black ORVMs, and new 17-inch alloy wheels.

Apart from these, it is also expected to feature smoked lighting elements, which will enhance its sporty appeal. As for the powerplant, it will continue to get the same 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, which produces 115 PS and 178 Nm. Pricing of this variant is expected to be around Rs 12.75 lakh for the manual and Rs 13.65 lakh for the automatic version.

Along with the launch of the Kylaq Sportline, it has been reported that Skoda is also planning to introduce a CNG version of the Kylaq. This SUV will be targeted towards urban buyers who want lower running costs. This version is expected to get an OEM-approved dealer-level fitted CNG kit.

Now, whether it will be a single-cylinder setup or a dual-cylinder setup has not been reported. In terms of power, it is expected to produce around 90 to 100 PS in CNG mode and deliver a mileage of approximately 23 to 25 km/kg. The pricing of the Kylaq CNG is expected to be around Rs 90,000 to Rs 1 lakh more than the standard petrol variants.

After noting the success of the Kylaq, Volkswagen is also gearing up to enter the highly competitive sub-4m segment. This SUV will be based on the MQB A0 IN platform, which is the same as the Kylaq and other VW and Skoda products.

Powering this SUV will be a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine, which produces 115 PS and 178 Nm. It will be offered with both manual and automatic gearbox options. Once launched in the price range of Rs 8 lakh to Rs 13 lakh, it will directly rival the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Skoda Kylaq, Kia Sonet, and XUV 3XO, along with others.

The popular crossover SUV Fronx from Maruti Suzuki is also set to receive a facelift in 2026. This update will include subtle design changes on the outside, along with additional features inside the cabin. Powertrain options of this particular model will remain the same as the current model. It will be priced in the range of Rs 7 lakh to Rs 12 lakh.

Apart from the facelifted iteration, Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch the Fronx hybrid in India. Unlike the standard strong hybrids, this particular SUV will be getting an all-new series hybrid powertrain. In this setup, the 1.2-litre Z12E petrol engine will act as a generator.

Meanwhile, the electric motor will drive the wheels. As a result of this, the Fronx series hybrid is expected to offer a mileage of around 35 kmpl. Additionally, a flex-fuel (E85-compatible) version is also expected to be launched.

The Toyota Taisor, which is essentially a rebadged Fronx, will also receive a mid-life facelift. It will be offered with updated styling, more features, and possibly the same hybrid technology as the Fronx. Pricing of the new Taisor will also be in the range of Rs 8-12 lakh.

Hyundai is working on an all-new compact SUV, which has already been spotted testing in India. This SUV will feature a boxy design with rugged styling elements like strong wheel arches, roof rails, and a muscular rear bumper.

It is also expected to get premium features like a 360-degree camera and ADAS. There is also a possibility that this SUV could come with AWD or even an electric powertrain. More details are expected to be revealed soon. However, it will most likely be making its debut at the end of 2026 or by the first half of 2027. Pricing will be around Rs 9-14 lakh.

Honda, due to its plummeting sales, is also planning to re-enter the sub-compact SUV segment with a brand-new model. Currently, Honda does not have any SUV in this category, which has impacted its market share significantly.

It has been reported that this new SUV will play an important role in boosting volumes for the brand. However, at the moment, Honda has stated that the project is still under evaluation. For the Japanese automaker, cost optimization remains a major challenge, but if Honda decides to launch this SUV, we will only be seeing it in 2027.

The French carmaker Renault has been relentlessly working hard to launch new models in India to grab a bigger market share. For this, it is currently developing a brand-new sub-compact SUV codenamed Bridger, and the concept of this SUV was showcased recently.

This SUV will feature a rugged, boxy design with a tailgate-mounted spare wheel and strong road presence. It will be positioned between the Kiger and the newly launched Duster mid-size SUV. Powering this SUV will most likely be a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing slightly higher output than the Kiger. Later, we can expect to see it with a strong hybrid and an electric powertrain as well. It is expected to launch around 2027-28 in the range of Rs 8-14 lakh.

Following the launch of the Renault Bridger, Nissan, which is the partner of Renault, will also launch its own version of the Renault Bridger SUV. This model will share its platform and design cues but will have slightly different styling.

It is expected to offer multiple powertrain options, including petrol, hybrid, and even electric, just like the Bridger. Nissan’s version of the Bridger, however, will most likely be launched by 2028.
