Sanjay Singh, Patna. A madrasa located in Gavandra, East Champaran is once again in the headlines. On Sunday, a special police team raided here on the basis of secret information and recovered a pistol and cartridges. After this action, three people including the Maulvi of the Madrasa are being detained and interrogated, while the entire Madrasa has been sealed with immediate effect.
According to the police, they had received information that illegal weapons were hidden in the Madrasa premises and a network of purchase and sale of weapons was being operated from here. Seeing the seriousness of the information, Superintendent of Police Swarn Prabhat gave instructions to take immediate action. On his orders, a special team was formed under the leadership of Sub-Divisional Police Officer Santosh Kumar and the local police station in-charge.

The Maulvi and others present at the spot were interrogated, after which three persons were taken into custody. SP Swarn Prabhat said that the source and possible network of the recovered weapons is being investigated. Efforts are being made to find out whether this case is connected to any big gang or organized crime. At present, in view of security, the Madrasa has been sealed and vigilance has been increased in the surrounding areas as well.
It is noteworthy that this is the same madrasa, which has already been on the radar of security agencies. On July 19, 2023, Bihar ATS and Motihari Police, in a joint action, arrested PFI active member Usman alias Sultan alias Yakub from here. Yakub was accused of being part of a large network related to terrorist activities and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) was looking for him in a case related to the Phulwarisharif terror module. After his arrest, this madrasa became the center of discussion in the entire area.
