Pakistan Threatens to Attack Kolkata if India Attempts “Any Misadventure”

NEW DELHI, Apr 5: The Pakistan Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has warned India that it would respond with a strike in Kolkata to any “future misadventures.”

“If India tries to stage any false flag operation this time, then God-willingly, we will take it to Kolkata,” Mr Asif said while talking to reporters at Sialkot, some 130 kilometers from Lahore.

He claimed of reports that a false-flag operation has been designed through their own men or through the Pakistanis in their detention by laying down some bodies somewhere and saying “they were terrorists and had done so and so.” He, however, did not provide any evidence in support of his claim.

On Thursday Mr Asif had said Pakistan’s response to any attack would be “swift, calibrated, and decisive.” He was responding to the remarks by his Indian counterpart Rajnath Singh, who earlier said any “misadventure” from India’s neighbor in the prevailing situation would invite an “unprecedented and decisive” action. The Pahalgam attack that took place on April 22 last year resulted in a four-day conflict between the two countries.

Mr Singh had said on Thursday that the Indian armed forces would take “unprecedented action” against Pakistan if it attempted any “misadventure.” Recalling the “Sindoor Operation” in May last year in response to the Pahalgam attack, Mr Singh said “Operation Sindoor is still on. If Pakistan attempts any misadventure, the armed forces will give a befitting response that Pakistan will never forget. There will be unprecedented action by the forces,” he had said at the ‘Sainik Samman Sammelan’ in Thiruvananthapuram.

“During Operation Sindoor, the armed forces brought Pakistan to its knees in 22 minutes. This was the biggest operation by the forces against terrorism in the history of Indian military.” He had also said India’s approach towards terrorism changed after Narendra Modi took charge as Prime Minister in 2014. “In the past 11 years, Prime Minister Modi has strengthened national security. We have changed out attitude and action towards it. The whole world saw that change during Operation Sindoor,” he had said.
