No compensation, answers needed… Questions unresolved even after 10 months of Ahmedabad plane crash, victims appeal to PM
The accident of Air India plane going from Ahmedabad to London had changed the lives of hundreds of families last year. This accident happened on June 12 last year, when Air India flight AI 171 met with an accident shortly after take off. Now almost ten months have passed since that painful incident, but only one question is still echoing in the minds of the victims’ families – what happened that day? To get the answer to this question, the families have now appealed to the Prime Minister of the country.
The plane had taken off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport and within some time collided with the hostel complex of a medical college. The situation became more frightening due to the fire in the plane. In this accident, the plane caught fire, due to which 241 out of 242 people on board the plane died. Apart from these, 19 more people also died in this. This incident became one of the most painful plane accidents in the country.
The families have only one demand – the truth should come out.
Now, almost ten months after the accident, around 30 families from different parts of Gujarat gathered in Ahmedabad. He has written a letter to the Prime Minister demanding to reveal the entire truth of the accident. The families say they have the right to know what caused the accident. They want the cockpit voice recording device and technical data related to the flight to be made public, so that the real reason can be revealed.
“We don’t want compensation, we want answers.”
Many people who lost their loved ones in this accident are still in deep shock. A father said that the desolation of his house would never end. For them, no amount of financial assistance can fill that void. He says that he does not need money but needs to know the truth. They want to know what mistake or problem happened that led to such a big accident.
Victim families faced problems
The victims’ families also told that they are facing many problems. The system made to get the goods back after the accident is not easy for them. Information about many things is given on the website, but due to the lack of clear photographs, it becomes difficult to identify. Apart from this, people are also facing problems due to limited means of communication, especially those who are not very familiar with technology.
The investigation of this entire matter was handed over to the concerned agency, which had pointed out some important points in the initial report. Now the final report is awaited, which is likely to come around June this year. The families hope that through this report they will get answers to their questions and the truth behind the accident will come to light.
