Zhao Xintong Leads 5-3 Against World No.1 Judd Trump Ahead Of 2nd Session

With 12 players taking part at the Tour Championship Snooker 2026, the final came down between Judd Trump and Zhao Xintong hosted by Manchester. The first session of the decider between Trump and Xintong has been done and dusted. Xintong has taken a significant 5-3 lead, leaving Trump to make the play to win the trophy.

Trump, who is currently the World No.1, could have drawn blood as soon as the match got underway but it followed a foul.  Xintong seized the opportunity and began confidently, with Trump finding himself under a bit of a pressure after that. But Xintong committed a couple of fouls but still took the opening frame fairly comfortably. The Chinese Snooker star also wrapped up the second but Trump stormed into the contest by taking the third.

Trump, the Englishman, drew level by taking the fourth as well. Xintong won the next two frames as well to take a sizeable lead against the World No.1. With the second session set to get underway at 7:00 PM BST, it will be interesting to see which way it goes.

Trump had defeated Australia’s Neil Robertson to enter the final. Robertson reacted to the loss and said, as quoted by sun.co.uk:

“I was garbage, the whole match. He started off very well but after that we were both absolutely shocking, I probably brought him down. When I get involved in safety I am just not good enough at this level to compete. That’s why my record in the World Championship is so bad.”

Xintong, meanwhile, had defeated the celebrated Snooker player John Higgins and said:

“I played well and I am very happy to reach the final. My cueing was very good, I tried not to think too much, I just enjoyed the table and concentrated on the balls. This season I have been in four finals and I am enjoying every moment and trying to get better. To play Judd in a final for the first time will be a big moment for me, it will be very tough.”
