Kia Seltos Hybrid: After establishing a strong foothold in the Indian SUV market, Kia Motors is now poised to make a major splash in the hybrid segment, with the global debut of the Kia Seltos Hybrid at the New York International Auto Show on April 1, 2026. Its groundbreaking technology and excellent fuel efficiency are set to give established giants like the Toyota Hyrider and Maruti Grand Vitara a run for their money.

Engine and Performance
Kia has introduced the new Seltos Hybrid with a powerful 1.6-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) to provide a smooth and efficient driving experience. This engine is further powered by an electric motor mounted on the front wheel, producing a combined system power of 141 PS and a robust torque of 265 Nm, providing robust acceleration in both city traffic and highway traffic. For the Indian market, Kia may adapt its popular 1.5-liter engine with hybrid technology to control costs and provide customers with an affordable and powerful option, tailored to the local market.
e-AWD Technology
For the first time, Kia has introduced the e-AWD (Electric All-Wheel Drive) option on the Seltos Hybrid, making it a true off-roading powerhouse thanks to an additional electric motor mounted on the rear axle. This motor activates only when needed, providing the vehicle with incredible stability and grip in snow, mud, or slippery roads, boosting driver confidence significantly.
However, this e-AWD feature is primarily designed for the harsh winters of the American and European markets, so its availability in India is currently uncertain, as the company will primarily focus on front-wheel drive (FWD) models to keep the model within the budget of middle-class customers.
Mileage
The Seltos Hybrid’s biggest strength is its mileage, as the SUV has achieved a fuel efficiency of 19.5 km/l in South Korean tests, which is truly impressive for a large SUV. To achieve this impressive mileage, Kia has equipped it with advanced technologies like the Hybrid Predictive Control System and Smart Regenerative Braking 3.0, which efficiently manage the battery’s charge. While the standard Seltos features a 50-liter fuel tank, the hybrid model features a smaller 38-liter tank to make room for the battery. However, its high-mileage capability allows for long, non-stop journeys with a single full tank.
V2L Technology
Kia has transformed the hybrid Seltos into a modern gadget by incorporating V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) technology into a powerful tool that allows you to seamlessly utilize your vehicle’s battery during outdoor activities. This system can deliver approximately 3.52 kW of power, which means you can power your SUV with a laptop, camping gear, or small household appliances during power outages. Apart from this, it also has a ‘Stay Mode’ which gives the freedom to run features like infotainment and AC from the high-voltage battery even when the car is parked and the engine is switched off, thus preventing fuel wastage.
