Big decision of Central Government, relief for farmers across the country

New Delhi. Once again there is news of relief for the agricultural sector. The Central Government has taken immediate steps for the safety and economic stability of farmers across the country. The 22nd installment of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana has been released recently and the 23rd installment is expected in July.

Apart from this, Union Agriculture and Farmers and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed officials to assess the crop damage caused by unseasonal rain and hailstorm.

The minister has clarified that the government stands with the affected farmers and they need not worry. Officials have been instructed to contact the agriculture departments of the respective states and collect detailed information about the loss. Apart from this, the Union Minister will also discuss this issue with the Agriculture Ministers of the affected states, so that the farmers can get relief.

Which states are affected

Wheat and other standing Rabi crops have been affected by unseasonal rain and hailstorm in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana. Crops have been reported damaged in 4,053.11 hectare area in 17 districts of Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, in Punjab also, unseasonal heavy rains, hailstorm and strong winds have disrupted wheat harvesting. Heavy losses in wheat and other Rabi crops are expected in many parts of Haryana.

Challenges facing farmers

Farmers say that harvesting is getting delayed due to continuous rain and hailstorm in the last stage of crop ripening. Due to heavy water in the fields and bad weather, it has become difficult to operate the machines, increasing the risk of economic loss.
