The number of flights coming to India from Gulf countries is increasing: Center

The number of flights coming to India from Gulf countries is continuously increasing and planes are flying to different cities of the country from many airports of UAE, Saudi Arabia and Oman. This information was given by the government on Sunday.

The government said that 90 non-scheduled flights are expected from UAE to India on Sunday. Planes are coming to India from many airports of Saudi Arabia and Oman. Qatar airspace partially opened and about 8-10 flights are expected to reach India.

The ministry said that despite the closure of airspace of Kuwait and Bahrain, flights to India are being operated via Dammam (Saudi Arabia). Travel from Iran is being conducted via Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Similarly, travel from Israel to India is being facilitated via Egypt and Jordan, while travel from Iraq to India is being facilitated via Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

The ministry further said that the mortal remains of an Indian sailor who lost his life in the attack on a ship off the coast of Oman has been brought back to India and all possible assistance is being provided to the bereaved family.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian embassies and the Indian community across the region are in constant touch and are continuing to provide assistance and issue necessary advisories for their security.

A total of 345 Indian fishermen stranded in Iran returned home on Saturday. The Tehran-based embassy helped him get through southern Iran to Armenia, from where he flew to Chennai.

The Ministry of External Affairs is keeping a close eye on the constantly evolving situation in the Gulf and West Asia region, and regular coordination is being maintained with States/Union Territories and Indian Embassies through a dedicated control room.

Indian Embassies and Missions are providing round-the-clock helpline service, issuing advisories and coordinating with Indian community organisations, companies and local authorities. Assistance includes visas, consular services, transit facilitation and logistics assistance.

The ministry said the embassies are in constant touch with the Indian crew deployed on the ships, providing them consular assistance, assisting in establishing contact with family and cooperating with repatriation requests.
