Air strikes destroy Red Crescent in southern Iran, attack 12 cities

tehran: A rescue vehicle of the Iranian Red Crescent Society was completely destroyed during an American-Israeli airstrike in the city of Sepidan in southern Iran. The incident occurred around 5 a.m. on Sunday, when Red Crescent rescue teams from Sepidan were dispatched for a rescue operation, reported Iran’s state broadcaster, Iranian Islamic Republic Broadcasting (IRIB).

Additionally, according to Al Jazeera, American-Israeli strikes targeted at least 12 cities in Iran. Tehran was attacked near Mehrabad airport and Sharif University. A gas substation near the university was targeted. Other cities included Bander Abbas, Ahvaz, Mahshahr, Bandar-e Langeh, Shiraz, Isfahan, Karaj, Qom, and Kang City, where five people died and 17 were injured.

According to a report, Iran formally rejected a 48-hour ceasefire proposal from the US on April 4, indicating a hardening of Tehran’s position. The rejection reflects Iran’s tough stance amid regional tensions.

This diplomatic initiative was sent through a designated intermediary country. The failure of these diplomatic efforts coincides with the downing of a US warplane over Iran’s border.

According to foreign reports, US forces have successfully rescued a crew member of this aircraft, and he has been sent to US custody for medical treatment. However, the condition of the second crew member is still uncertain, and search and rescue operations are ongoing. “The officer was injured, but will recover,” US President Donald Trump said in a social media post.
