IRGC intelligence chief Majid Khademi dies in Iran, America-Israel held responsible

Tehran. Iranian state media confirmed on Monday that Brigadier General Majid Khademi, the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) intelligence organization, had been killed. According to reports, Khademi was killed in an attack early on Monday. The IRGC described it as a “criminal terrorist attack” and blamed US and Israel-backed elements.

Majid Khademi was one of Iran’s most influential security officials. In June 2022 he was appointed head of the IRGC’s Intelligence Protection Organization and in 2025 he replaced Mohammad Kazemi as head of the IRGC Intelligence Organisation. Not just a strategic officer, Khademi also held a PhD in National Security and Strategic Defense Sciences.

Khademi’s assassination came at a time when efforts were being made by several countries, including Pakistan, Egypt and Turkey, to mediate between Iran and the US. His death would be a major blow to these talks efforts, as Tehran has already refused to take active participation in any talks.

According to media reports, there were also reports of targeted air strikes by Israel and the US in Tehran and surrounding areas on Monday morning.
