Political turmoil intensifies before Bengal elections, TMC-BJP face to face over indecent remarks, dispute reaches Election Commission

digital desk- The political atmosphere is continuously heating up before the upcoming assembly elections in West Bengal. The round of allegations and counter-allegations between the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has now reached the Election Commission. Both parties have filed complaints accusing each other of foul language, threats and derogatory comments, which has further increased the tension in the state’s politics. At the center of this entire controversy is Panihati assembly seat, which is in the news this time. BJP has fielded a woman here, who is the mother of a doctor who was the victim of rape and murder in the famous RG Kar Hospital incident last year. After this decision, this seat has become important at both emotional and political level.

Allegation of remarks against CM Mamata Banerjee

On behalf of TMC, Kalyan Banerjee has complained to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and made serious allegations against the BJP candidate. He claimed that the BJP candidate has made extremely objectionable and threatening statements against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. It was also alleged that in these comments there was a threat to his personal safety. Calling these statements a threat to democratic values, Kalyan Banerjee has demanded immediate intervention from the Election Commission. He said that such language during the electoral process not only poisons the atmosphere but also weakens the spirit of free and fair elections. TMC has called it part of BJP’s “politics of fear and confrontation”.

BJP alleges indecent remarks against Home Minister

At the same time, just hours after TMC’s complaint, BJP also retaliated and lodged its complaint with the election officials. BJP alleged that Kalyan Banerjee has made indecent, provocative and derogatory comments against Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The party has also presented a video clip as evidence. BJP says that this is not an isolated incident, but is part of the continuous inflammatory rhetoric being made by TMC leaders. According to the party, such statements are further polarizing the election environment and increasing social tension. The BJP has demanded strict action from the Election Commission against Kalyan Banerjee, including holding her guilty of violation of the code of conduct and initiating legal proceedings.
