Assam Elections: PM Modi’s sharp attack on the opposition in Dibrugarh, said- ‘Congress defeated after seeing the enthusiasm of the people in Assam’

Dibrugarh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a huge public meeting in Dibrugarh on Monday regarding the Assam Assembly elections. During this, he made a scathing attack on the opposition Congress. Seeing the huge crowd gathered at the public meeting and the enthusiasm of the people, PM Modi said that he has got many opportunities to visit Dibrugarh, but the zeal and enthusiasm that is being seen this time is unmatched.

He said that this huge support from the public is a cause of great concern for the Congress. Congress is already shocked and such pictures just before voting will demoralize it further. This enthusiasm of the public is giving a strong message. Praising the cultural diversity and unity of Assam, the Prime Minister said that it has a wonderful tradition of ‘Ek Bharat – Shreshtha Bharat’. Various communities like Ahom, Koch-Rajbanshi, Moran, Motok, Mising, Deori have been living in mutual harmony for centuries. Whether someone speaks Assamese, someone Bengali or someone Hindi, but everyone has the same dream – developed Assam and developed India.

PM Modi remembered the great leaders and personalities of Assam. Referring to Bhupen Hazarika, Gopinath Bordoloi and Jyoti Prasad Aggarwal, he said that these great persons have given a new direction to Assam. With his inspiration, the BJP-NDA government is working towards making Dibrugarh a major business and economic centre. On this occasion, the Prime Minister strongly attacked the Congress and said that the highway from Numaligarh to Dibrugarh is a clear example of Congress’s neglect towards Assam. This project was approved in 2005, but no significant progress was made in it till 2013, when the Congress government was at the Centre.

He alleged that Congress treated Assam step-motherly, due to which the development of areas like Upper Assam and Barak Valley was halted. There was no concern about connectivity during the long rule of Congress. At the same time, now the BJP-NDA government is taking the connectivity of the region to new heights with the bridges being built on Bogibeel Bridge, Bhupen Hazarika Setu, Jorhat-Majuli Setu and other rivers including Brahmaputra.

PM Modi said that a few days ago the world saw the spectacular sight of fighter planes landing on the new highway built by the BJP-NDA government in Moran. I myself landed on that road with the Air Force. Just ten years ago, the people of Assam used to request for basic facilities like roads.
