Can Congress withdraw candidate from Baramati seat?
Indian National Congress has fielded candidates for the Baramati Assembly by-election in Maharashtra. On the other hand, after the nomination, the statements of State Deputy CM and Nationalist Congress Party leader Sunetra Pawar have indicated that Congress may withdraw its candidature.
Speaking to reporters after filing nomination for Baramati by-election, Pawar said that Praful Patel and I are trying to contact Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge to request him to conduct this election unopposed.
He said that this is the most difficult choice of my life; Such a time should not come upon anyone. This choice is not just mine; This is the election of the entire people of Baramati.
On the other hand, when Congress declared Advocate Akash Vijay Rao More as its candidate for Baramati Assembly by-election, Congress leader Hussain Dalwai said – I would like to say that since Sharad Pawar’s candidate has passed away, will his candidate not contest elections in Rahur? Or is he going to join BJP? Congress should not field candidates for its own benefit and selfishness, this is wrong. We respect Ajit Pawar, but has this not been the tradition here?
He said that BJP has done the work of breaking this tradition, not Congress. Only Congress candidate can win there, because our base is there and our candidate is from backward class. There is every possibility of him winning. I would like to say that the decision taken by our party is absolutely right.
Let us tell you that in January this year, Sunetra’s husband and NCP leader, Ajit Pawar died in an air crash. After this this seat was declared vacant.
