Rain stops play, Shah Rukh Khan involved in intense conversation with KKR CEO

The KKR vs PBKS match at Eden Gardens has been stopped due to rain in Kolkata. There was a forecast of downpour, and the toss was carried out under a heavy cloud cover, with the Kolkata Knight Riders captain deciding to bat first after the coin result went in his favour.

The home franchise was 25 for 2 in 3.4 when umpires told the players to leave the field and signalled the groundsmen to bring the covers as the rain got heavier.

Finn Allen and Cameron Green were dismissed by pacer Xavier Bartlett. Allen scored just 6 while Green managed 4. Ajinkya Rahane (8) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (7) were unbeaten.

KKR co-owner and Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is present at the iconic venue to witness the proceedings. With things not going right for the three-time champions, he was involved in an intense conversation with KKR CEO Venky Mysore.

Former cricketers and experts were surprised by Rahane’s decision to bat first, considering the weather forecast and continuous rain in a leadup to the contest.

The Knights have been impacted by injuries, with the team losing the first two contests. Harshit Rana and Akash Deep have been ruled out of the tournament after failing to recover from injuries.

On the other hand, Varun Chakravarthy is sitting out of the KKR vs PBKS match after picking up an injury in the previous game against Sunrisers Hyderabad at home. Sunil Narine is not well.
