Huge quantity of drugs and cash recovered

In this operation conducted by Kulgam Police, police stations Qazigund and Devsar have jointly recovered a huge consignment. Details of the recovery are as follows:

Heroin: 415.61 grams (high quality).

Charas: 1348 grams (in powder and solid form).

Cannabis: 1.5 kg (dry leaves).

Cash: earnings from smuggling ₹1,37,990 Cash amount of Rs.

Backward Linkage: Smuggling strings extend to Jammu

Jammu Connection: When Qazigund Police (FIR 43/2026) conducted a raid in Kurigam, they arrested two smugglers (Mohammed Rafiq Mir and Bagh Hussain) from there. During interrogation it was found that the main source of this smuggling was from Jammu. belly chirping Is the area.

Raid in Jammu: A special team of Kulgam Police conducted a raid in Jammu and recovered 262 grams of additional heroin from there. It became clear that this is an organized network which supplies narcotics between Kashmir and Jammu.

Case-wise major arrests

Police have arrested many notorious smugglers in different FIRs:

Rasik Ahmed Padder (Verinag): Arrested from Furrah with 163 grams of charas.

Mohammad Idris Ghani (Furrah): Khrevan was caught with 205 grams of hashish from Lassi Pora.

Maqsood Ahmed Naikoo (Nasu Badragund): Caught with 310 grams of charas.

Husband-wife pair: From Nava Qazigund Mohammed Mantu Shaikh and his wife Samina Khatoon (Delhi resident) was arrested with heroin and charas.

Administration’s ‘zero tolerance’ and appeal

SSP Kulgam has made it clear that any person involved in drug smuggling, be it a financier or a shelter provider, will not be spared. Earlier in February, the police arrested a big smuggler Assets worth Rs 1.5 crore (Shops and warehouses) were also confiscated.
