Central government gave update: 2 big good news for the countrymen
New Delhi. The central government shared two big pieces of good news for the countrymen on Monday. C. Shikha, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, said that the buffer stock of grains in India is three times more than the norms. Currently about 222 lakh metric tonnes of wheat and 380 lakh metric tonnes of rice are available in the country. This means that the total food stock has reached approximately 602 lakh metric tonnes, which is sufficient to meet the needs of PDS as well as any emergency demand.
He also said that imports from India’s main international trading partners like Indonesia, Malaysia, Russia, Ukraine, Argentina and Brazil are continuing. Along with this, better domestic production of mustard has further strengthened the stability of supply.
The second big good news is regarding maritime security. Mukesh Mangal, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, said all Indian seafarers in the West Asia region are safe and maritime operations are continuing normally. Recently, two Indian flagged ships, Green Sanghvi and Green Asha, carrying LPG have safely passed through the Strait of Hormuz.
Currently, 16 Indian ships are deployed in the Western Persian Gulf region, with a total of 433 sailors on board. The Ministry, in collaboration with the Indian Mission, Ministry of External Affairs and maritime stakeholders, has ensured that there is no disruption to the safety of seafarers and maritime operations.
According to experts, both these steps have not only ensured food security, but have also made India’s strategic preparedness and alertness clear despite the increasing tension in the Middle East. The Central Government has clearly said that it will continuously monitor the situation and will take immediate action if necessary. This update not only brings relief to the countrymen, but has also increased confidence in self-reliance and security.
