Security lapse in Delhi Assembly: Car breaks barrier and enters
A serious security lapse came to light at the Delhi Assembly complex in New Delhi on Monday afternoon when a car broke the barrier of the VIP entry gate and entered inside. This incident is said to have happened around 2 pm. According to officials, the car had Uttar Pradesh number plates and the driver had covered his face with a mask, making it difficult to identify him.
It is being told that the car came straight towards Gate No. 2 and without stopping broke the barricading and entered the assembly complex. The security personnel did not even get a chance to recover. After entering inside, the driver turned the car straight towards the office of Assembly Speaker Vijendra Gupta.
After reaching the porch of the Speaker’s office, the driver stopped the car and placed a bouquet there. After this he immediately fled from the spot with the car. This incident created a stir among the security agencies. The biggest concern was whether this was a conspiracy for some major attack, especially when recently there had been threats to bomb the Assembly.
Quick action by police, three suspects in custody
As soon as information about the incident was received, the Delhi Police team reached the spot and the entire area was surrounded. Security was immediately tightened, while CRPF personnel were deployed as reinforcements at Gate No. 2.
Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the police started investigation quickly and within no time took three suspects related to this incident into custody. One of them has been identified as Sarabjit, a resident of Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh. The police are now interrogating all of them to find out what was their motive behind this incident and whether there is any major conspiracy angle involved in it.
During the investigation, the police have also recovered the car which was used in this incident. This car is said to be of Tata Sierra model. At present the police is investigating the car so that any suspicious material or clue can be found in it. It is a matter of relief that no explosive or dangerous material was recovered from the car or the incident site.
Threats have been received before also, questions raised on security
This incident has come to light at a time when recently the Delhi Assembly had received bomb threats. In such a situation, such security lapses have raised serious questions on the preparations and security arrangements of the administration.
Experts believe that breaking into any sensitive government complex by breaking the barrier in this manner shows a major flaw in security. If the security forces were not alert in time, this incident could have turned into a major threat.
After this incident, a review of the security arrangements of the assembly complex has been started. Officials have said that additional measures will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future and safety protocols will be made more stringent.
The concern regarding security in Delhi has increased because a serious incident has already come to light. On August 20, 2025, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was attacked during a public hearing.
In that incident, a person posing as a complainant approached him and held his hand on the pretext of giving him the paper. After this he pulled the Chief Minister’s hair and slapped him. Rekha Gupta suffered injuries on her hand, shoulder and head in this attack.
The attacker was identified as Rajeshbhai Khimji, a resident of Rajkot, Gujarat. He was arrested on the spot. Investigation revealed that several criminal cases were already registered against the accused.
Investigation continues from every angle
At present, the police is investigating from every aspect regarding this latest incident that took place in Delhi Assembly. Efforts are being made to find out whether this was just an attempt to spread sensation or whether there is a bigger conspiracy hidden behind it.
The security agencies are interrogating the detained accused and their criminal records, call details and other activities are also being examined. Also, the CCTV footage of the Assembly complex is being scrutinized so that the entire sequence of the incident can be understood.
