International drugs smuggling case busted, about 3.19 kg hydroponic ganja recovered from passenger at Lucknow airport
Lucknow. A major revelation of drug smuggling has come to light at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow, the capital of UP. Ganja worth crores has been recovered from a passenger coming from Bangkok. Taking major action, the Air Intelligence Unit at Lucknow Airport has busted a case of international drug trafficking (International Drug Trafficking Racket Busted). About 3.19 kg of Hydroponic Cannabis has been recovered from a passenger who reached Lucknow from Bangkok, whose value in the international market is said to be around Rs 3 crore.

According to the information, the officials became suspicious of this passenger who came from AirAsia Flight No. FD-146, after which he was stopped and investigated at around 11:30 pm on Sunday night. During initial interrogation itself, the passenger admitted to having banned drugs in his bag. After this, when his belongings were searched, a large quantity of ganja was recovered from it.
During investigation, the accused has been identified as Shamim, a resident of Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh. The drugs recovered during the operation have been confiscated and the accused has been arrested under the NDPS Act, 1985.
At present the Customs Department and related agencies are thoroughly interrogating the accused. The focus of the investigation is on where this consignment was brought from and who are the people behind it. Officials suspect that this case may be linked to a big international smuggling network.
