Program on “Together for Health, Stand with Science” organized at SIMS on World Health Day

Bilaspur. On Tuesday, on the occasion of World Health Day, SIMS’s P.S.M. An effective CME (Continuing Medical Education) program on the theme “Together for Health, Stand with Science” was organized by the Department of Community Medicine. In the programme, experts expressed their views on the importance of scientific approach, evidence based medicine and public awareness in health services.

The program was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr. Ramnesh Murthy, Special Guest Dr. Lakhan Singh, Head of the Department of Community Medicine Dr. Hemlata Thakur, Head of the Department of Anesthesia Dr. Madhumita Murthy and other senior doctors along with Saraswati Vandana and lighting of lamp.

This year’s theme of WHO is “Together for Health: Stand with Science”, post-graduate student Dr. G. Manish Rao and graduate students Aakriti Gupta and Hema Nayak presented meaningful lectures. Speakers pointed out that science-based decisions, research and public participation in modern medicine make health services more effective. During the program, the winners of the WHO quiz competition were honored by Dr. Ramanesh Murthy by distributing prizes.

On this occasion, Dean Dr. Ramnesh Murthy said, “The need of the hour is to adopt scientific thinking, research and evidence-based treatment methods for better health services. World Health Day gives us the message that society and science together can create a healthy future.”

Medical Superintendent Dr. Lakhan Singh in his address said, “To strengthen community health, it is extremely important to increase scientific awareness among doctors, students and general public. This type of CME programs give a new direction to medical education and service quality.”

Dr. Hemlata Thakur, Head of the Department of Community Medicine, said, “According to the theme of WHO, the biggest need today is to provide science-based information to the society by getting it out of health related myths. The active participation of students is a positive sign in this direction.
