Alexander, Genghis Khan to Trump: why the external enemies could not conquer Iran even in 7000 years?

The civilization of Iran is more than 7 thousand years old. The advanced civilization of Mesopotamia or Egypt has also sunk into the womb of time. But the Middle Eastern country remained. From Alexander to the Mongols, Iran has been steadfast despite repeated attacks by external enemies. This issue has come up again and again since US President Donald Trump’s recent threat to destroy ‘entire civilization’. Eventually the matter turned to a truce. And since then, the ‘invincible’ Iranian civilization has become a magnet for discussion in informed circles. Practice is going on, which magic from Alexander to Trump, Iran has been able to deal with outsiders repeatedly?

Alexander the Great: Greece’s ‘conquering’ hero conquered what was then Persia or today’s Iran between 334 and 330 BC! He defeated the Persian emperor Darius III. After capturing the Persian capital of Persepolis, he drunkenly burned the city’s palaces. But even then Iran claimed that even if Alexander won the war, he became one of Persia. He was seen adopting Persian dress and royal customs. He even organized mass marriages between Greeks and Persians. He is known as ‘Sikandar’ in Persian literature. Moreover, even though he conquered Iran, his rule there did not last long. Although he won militarily, he could not completely wipe out Iranian culture and nationalism.

Genghis Khan: The same can be said about Genghis Khan. The Mongols conquered Iran and were able to rule there for a long time. They destroyed major cities like Bukhara, Samarkand and Nishapur. Halaku Khan, the grandson of Genghis Khan, occupied the rest of Iran. But even after ruling for so long, it was not possible for them to erase the nationalism and culture of Iran. From building monuments in the Persian style to patronizing scholars there—the Mongols occupied Iran but did not actually conquer it. Rather, they themselves were mixed with the environment there. Such is the cultural make-up of Tehran that is highly infectious.

Although he conquered Iran, Alexander’s rule there did not last long. Although he won militarily, he could not completely wipe out Iranian culture and nationalism.

In fact, the historical roots of Iran are very deep since a long time ago. As a result, a strong cultural identity has been created for them. which can swallow attackers! Even when there is a political collapse, the society builds its own infrastructure. But for what reason Iran could not be completely destroyed? Behind it lies its geographical location. It has always been impossible to establish complete control in this region surrounded by mountains and vast terrain. Even when the capitals fell, the regional centers survived. This is Donald Trump’s focus on Iran. But even this time he could not succeed even with all his efforts. As a result, in the end, he practically has to accept defeat. And even after seven thousand years, Iran remains independent.
