Sunetra Pawar Set To Win Baramati By-Election Unopposed: Sunetra Pawar’s unopposed victory in Baramati by-election is certain, Congress withdrew the nomination of its candidate.

New Delhi. The unopposed victory of State Deputy CM Sunetra Pawar in the assembly by-election to be held in Baramati, Maharashtra is almost certain. Congress candidate Akash Vishwanath More has withdrawn his nomination. By-election is to be held on April 23 on the Baramati seat vacant after the death of NCP Chief and former Deputy CM Ajit Pawar. Earlier, NCP Sharad Pawar faction’s working president Supriya Sule had appealed for unopposed elections in honor of Ajit Pawar and urged Congress not to field a candidate.

Supriya Sule had said that after the untimely demise of Ajit Pawar, by-elections are now going to be held in Baramati assembly constituency. An unopposed election in Baramati at this moment of grief and memories will be a dignified and heartfelt tribute to his legacy of public service and inclusive politics. I humbly appeal to the Congress leadership to consider this proposal in the spirit of respect and unity. While talking to the journalists, Sharad Pawar himself had said that I would like to advise Congress that it would be best to hold elections unopposed in Baramati. The rest is the decision of Congress. Earlier, NCP-SCP MLA Rohit Pawar had met Congress Maharashtra unit president Harshvardhan Sapkal in this regard and requested him to withdraw the nomination of his party’s candidate so that Sunetra Pawar’s victory could be ensured unopposed.

Congress state president Harshvardhan Sapkal said, Congress should have contested elections there. We had to proceed with our ideological background but in the last 24 hours, many leaders of the Nationalist Party, Ajit Dada Pawar’s faction and the candidates themselves have repeatedly requested us to take this matter seriously. Some leaders of our alliance partner, Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Party, also spoke to us. After talking to all the party leaders, we are going to withdraw our candidate from there.
