Google Pay Pocket Money: Now children can make UPI payment even without a bank account, Google Pay brings amazing feature
News India Live, Digital Desk: Giving a new dimension to the digital revolution in India, the giant tech company Google has made a revolutionary change in its popular payment app ‘Google Pay’ (GPay). The company has introduced a new feature called ‘Pocket Money’, which will prove to be a boon especially for children and those who do not have their own bank account. Based on the ‘UPI Circle’ framework of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), this feature will now give children the freedom of digital transactions, but with complete control of the parents. What is the ‘Pocket Money’ feature and how does it work? This feature of Google Pay works on a ‘primary and secondary’ model. In this, parents will be the ‘primary user’, whose bank account is linked to Google Pay. At the same time, the child will be the ‘secondary user’. The biggest feature of this feature is that the child does not need to open his own bank account to use UPI. He will be able to make payment directly from his parents’ account. This is exactly the same as when you give your child pocket money while going out of the house, only now this process has become completely digital. Two types of control: Parents will be in control of the expenditure. Google has taken special care of security in this feature. Parents will have two control options: Full Delegation (Monthly Limit): Parents can set a monthly limit of up to ₹15,000 for their child. Within this limit, the child will be able to make payments without taking repeated permission. Partial Delegation (Approval on every payment): In this mode, whenever the child scans the QR code, the payment will be successful only when the parents ‘approve’ it from their phone. Very easy process to setup. If you also want to start this digital pocket money for your children, then follow these steps: Open the Google Pay app in your phone and click on the ‘Profile’ icon. Scroll down and select the ‘UPI Circle’ option. Click on ‘Add Secondary User’ and select your child’s mobile number (note that GPay must be registered on their phone as well). Scan their ‘UPI Circle QR’ code from the child’s phone. Now select the monthly limit or ‘Approve every payment’ option as per your convenience and send the invite. Why is this new change important? This feature is for those teenagers (13-18 years) This will prove to be a game-changer for those who used to depend on cash for small expenses while going to college or tuition. This will not only make children digitally literate, but also allow parents to keep a real-time track of their children’s expenses. This step of Google Pay will further strengthen the cashless economy in India, especially among the young generation who will now be able to be a part of the digital world safely without any bank hassles.
