Nifty 50 top losers today, April 10: Coal India, Sun Pharma, Infosys, TCS, Tech Mahindra and more
Indian equity benchmarks ended on a strong note on April 10, with the Nifty 50 closing above the 24,000 mark. The BSE Sensex gained 918.60 points or 1.20% to settle at 77,550.25, while the Nifty rose 275.50 points or 1.16% to close at 24,050.60.
Despite the broader market strength, several heavyweight stocks ended in the red, led primarily by IT and pharma names.
Coal India emerged as the top loser among Nifty constituents, declining 4.4% to close at ₹434.1. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries followed, falling 3.6% to ₹1,654.9.
Among IT stocks, Infosys dropped 2.9% to close at ₹1,292.5, while Tata Consultancy Services declined 2.5% to ₹2,524.3. Tech Mahindra also ended lower, slipping 1.5% to ₹1,440.2. HCL Technologies saw a comparatively smaller decline of 0.9%, closing at ₹1,451.2.
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation ended down 0.7% at ₹286.5, while Max Healthcare Institute closed marginally lower by 0.2% at ₹953.4.
The losses in these stocks came even as the overall market sentiment remained positive, indicating stock-specific weakness within select sectors.
