New Delhi. India has expressed concern over the news of hundreds of people being killed in Israeli attacks in Lebanon. Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the news of the death of a large number of civilians in Lebanon is extremely disturbing. India has always given top priority to the safety of citizens. It is necessary to follow international law and respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries. As a country that sends its troops to UNIFIL in Lebanon, and is committed to the peace and security of Lebanon, these incidents are extremely worrying. Our Embassy in Lebanon is in constant touch with the Indian community for their safety.

In response to a question regarding the current situation in West Asia, spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that we are closely monitoring all the developments. We are in constant touch with the countries of the Gulf region. On the instructions of the Prime Minister, our ministers are visiting Gulf countries to strengthen energy security. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar is currently on a tour of Mauritius. After this he will visit United Arab Emirates (UAE) on 11 and 12 April. During this, the Indian Defense Minister will discuss with UAE leaders to further strengthen India-UAE relations. Along with strengthening our energy security, we are also providing assistance to our neighboring countries as per their requests to meet their energy needs. We supplied 38 metric tonnes of petroleum products to Sri Lanka two weeks ago.

Jaiswal said, we are finalizing a government agreement for the supply of oil and gas, which will play an important role in strengthening the energy security of Mauritius. Our Petroleum Minister is visiting Qatar on 9th and 10th April. He is currently in Qatar. Qatar is an important supplier of energy to India. Qatar is committed to remaining a reliable energy supplier and looks forward to continuing and strengthening energy ties and cooperation with India. Qatar’s Energy Minister has confirmed this.
