Jaishankar met the President of Mauritius, discussed bilateral relations

Port Louis. India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar met Mauritius President Dharambir Gokhool on Friday and conveyed the message and good wishes of Narendra Modi and Draupadi Murmu on behalf of India. During this, both the leaders discussed further strengthening the traditional friendship and cooperation between India and Mauritius.

After the meeting, Jaishankar said on social media platform X that this meeting shows the commitment to take forward deep and trusting relations between the two countries. He said that India-Mauritius partnership is extremely important historically, culturally and strategically.

The External Affairs Minister also met former Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Kumar Jugnauth and appreciated his contribution in strengthening bilateral relations. Apart from this, he also held detailed talks with Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam on Thursday.

During this, the progress being made in important areas like development cooperation, health, education, capacity building, technology, maritime security and people-to-people contacts were discussed. Both sides agreed to further expand cooperation in these areas.

Jaishankar said India-Mauritius relations have witnessed significant progress in the last one year and both countries are committed to addressing regional and global challenges together. The current situation in West Asia and its implications were also discussed during the talks.
