Nature’s havoc on the mountains, devastation due to landslide in Himachal, red alert of heavy snowfall and rain in Uttarakhand-Kashmir.

News India Live, Digital Desk: The weather has once again taken a scary form in the hilly states of North India. Landslides following heavy rains in many districts including Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla have disrupted life. Many main road links have been closed due to debris, leaving thousands of tourists and locals stranded. On the other hand, continuous snowfall in the higher reaches of Uttarakhand and Kashmir has increased the severe cold, due to which the Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for the next 48 hours. Heavy landslide in Himachal: Roads turned into debris. The torrential rains in Himachal Pradesh for the last 24 hours have become a disaster. The National Highway has been blocked due to mountain cracking at many places near Shimla. The local administration has given instructions to evacuate sensitive areas as a precaution. Electric poles and communication lines have also been damaged due to the landslide, due to which many villages have been completely cut off. The administration has advised tourists not to head towards the mountains for the time being and stay at safe places only. A thick blanket of snow has spread in the high altitude areas of Uttarakhand like Chamoli, Uttarkashi and Pithoragarh. Heavy snowfall continues in Badrinath and Kedarnath Dham also. The situation is no different in Kashmir Valley also; Due to snowfall in Gulmarg and Sonamarg, the temperature has dropped several degrees below zero. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), due to an active Western Disturbance, this period of rain in the plains and snowfall on the mountains may continue for two-three days. Break on Chardham Yatra and tourism In view of the worsening weather, preparations for Chardham Yatra in Uttarakhand have also been affected. The work of removing snow from the roads has been stopped at many places. Flights from Srinagar airport are also likely to be affected due to poor visibility in Kashmir. The administration has put SDRF and NDRF teams on standby in landslide prone areas so that any emergency situation can be dealt with immediately. The direct impact of this snowfall and rain on the mountains will be seen in the plains of North India including Delhi-NCR. Due to cold winds the temperature may drop by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius. Meteorologists say that this kind of weather in the month of April is unexpected and is a sign of the increasing impact of climate change.
