Live telecast of country’s military bases in Pakistan! Terrorist conspiracy of ISI and Babbar Khalsa foiled, 11 arrested from Punjab-Delhi

The Special Cell of Delhi Police has busted the terror, arms and espionage module sponsored by Pakistan’s intelligence agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Babbar Khalsa International (BKL). This terror module was spread in many states of the country. Police have arrested 11 accused of this gang from Punjab and Delhi. Police Special claims that the arrested accused were conspiring to terrorize the entire country with a grenade attack. At present the police has started interrogating the accused.

According to the information, how dangerous this gang, run by Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI, was, can be gauged from the fact that live telecast of many military and defense bases was done in Pakistan. Solar panel-powered CCTV cameras were installed by the vicious members of the gang near sensitive military bases in many states including Punjab, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir. Recently, a similar big gang was exposed in Ghaziabad also.

Gang associated with Babbar Khalsa

All the 11 accused arrested during the raid conducted under this major operation are associated with the banned terrorist organization Babbar Khalsa. Police officials said that the module was engaged in espionage, arms smuggling, reconnaissance of important defense targets and posing a serious threat to national security. Investigation revealed that the accused had installed 9 solar powered and SIM equipped CCTV cameras near important defense positions. Especially in those areas where there is more movement of army and paramilitary forces.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Pramod Kushwaha said, ‘These locations include Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Pathankot, Patiala and Moga in Punjab. Apart from this, cameras were also installed in Ambala in Haryana, Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir and Alwar-Bikaner in Rajasthan. The officer said that the locations are very sensitive due to the movement of troops, proximity to the international border and important military cantonments.

Officials said that SIM cards purchased on fake identity cards were installed in these cameras. Handlers sitting in Pakistan used to watch real time footage through mobile app. According to the police, the module was working directly on the instructions of Pakistani handlers. Additional CP Kushwaha said, ‘The accused were entrusted with the task of sending important intelligence information and photographs about defense bases, movement of troops and across the border.’ He said that installing CCTV cameras near such sensitive locations shows that there was big planning to keep an eye on the movement of security forces.

Weapons also recovered along with cameras

According to the officer, 6 accused were arrested from Punjab and Delhi. On the basis of technical surveillance and intelligence, police recovered 9 CCTV cameras, four pistols including three foreign made ones and 24 cartridges. He said, ‘In the second operation conducted by the South Western Range on the information of the military intelligence unit, five more accused were arrested from Punjab, who were actively involved in recce and sharing of sensitive visuals of establishments belonging to the Army and Border Security Force (BSF).’

Traitor made by luring money

During interrogation, the accused told that they were included in this network by luring them with money, and this money came from smuggling of arms and narcotics coming from across the border. The official said, ‘The main accused, Manpreet Singh, a resident of Tarn Taran in Punjab, was in direct contact with Pakistan-based handlers and was playing a key role in facilitating communication and coordination in the supply of arms. He had received the consignment of foreign made weapons and distributed them among other members as per the instructions.’ Another accused Anmol, along with his associate Sahil, had taken the responsibility of installing CCTV cameras at several places.

Apart from espionage, the investigation has also exposed an arms smuggling network in which Pakistan-based handlers instructed Indian agents to procure and distribute illegal weapons, the official said. The money generated from these activities was being sent through digital payment platforms and used to finance further campaigns.

Police said that with these arrests a possible terrorist attack has also been averted, as information was received that this module was planning to attack security establishments through grenades and other means. This action has exposed several interconnected networks related to espionage, arms smuggling and terrorist conspiracies. He said, ‘Security agencies are analyzing digital evidence including data obtained from mobile phones and CCTV systems to identify possible sleeper cells. Further investigation is underway.
