Major accident in Vrindavan: Steamer overturned in Yamuna, 25 people were on board, many missing

After the accident, about a dozen people are said to be missing, while many are feared to have drowned. According to local people, some bodies have also been pulled out from the river, although the authorities have not yet officially confirmed the deaths.
As soon as information about the incident was received, a team of police and divers reached the spot. Till now the rescue team has evacuated 13 people safely. Of these:
- The condition of 5 people is said to be normal
- 8 people are seriously injured
All the injured were immediately admitted to the hospital. The search operation is continuing to find the remaining missing people.
After the incident, a huge crowd gathered at Shringar Ghat, police force has been deployed to control it. Besides, senior officials of the administration are also reaching the spot and taking stock of the situation.
The administration has started investigating the causes of the accident. Initial suspicion is that the steamer was carrying more people than its capacity or the accident occurred due to loss of balance.
This accident that happened in Vrindavan is very serious. At present, all eyes are on the rescue operation and every possible effort is being made by the administration to save as many people as possible safely.
