Fed up with Trump and Putin… British PM Keir Starmer fumes as oil prices rise

New Delhi: Amidst the Iran war and the global oil crisis, Britain’s displeasure is now becoming apparent. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has stated bluntly that he is fed up with the policies of the United States and Russia. He says that these countries’ decisions are directly impacting the pockets of ordinary British citizens.

In an interview, Starmer expressed his frustration, saying, “I’m fed up with seeing energy bills for families and businesses across the country fluctuate because of what Putin or Trump decides somewhere in the world.” His comments come at a time when oil prices are experiencing significant fluctuations due to the Iran war.

Recent tensions between the United States and Iran, led by US President Donald Trump, and the policies of Russian President Vladimir Putin have already destabilized the global energy market. The Russia-Ukraine war, which has been ongoing since 2022, has impacted oil and gas prices worldwide. Now, the Iran war has further exacerbated this crisis.

White House defends Trump
The White House has defended Trump’s decisions. A White House spokesperson said, “Many world leaders have spoken about the Iranian threat for decades, but nothing has been done. President Trump has taken bold action to ensure Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon.” Meanwhile, Starmer also criticized Israel. He said that attacking Lebanon during a ceasefire was “wrong.” Iran has already accused the US of violating the ceasefire, citing the attack on Lebanon as a major reason.

For Britain, this crisis is not only a foreign policy issue but also a major economic issue. Rising fuel
prices are increasing inflationary pressures, and this could have a profound impact on ordinary people’s lives in the future.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the entire situation as a “turning point” for the country. He said, “Over the past two decades, Britain has faced a series of crises: the 2008 recession, Brexit, the COVID pandemic, and the Russia-Ukraine war. Now, the Iran war must be seen as a new beginning.”

Keir Starmer further stated that Britain must now chart a new course, strengthening energy, defense, and economic security. The British PM stated, “We must abandon the hope of returning to the world of 2008 and chart a new course that will strengthen us in these volatile and dangerous times.”
