IMD Weather Alert: Stormy in 9 states in next 15 hours

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has once again issued a severe weather warning for many parts of the country. There is a possibility of heavy rain, thunderstorm and lightning in 9 states in the next 15 hours. During this period, the wind speed can reach 40 to 50 kilometers per hour, due to which there is a possibility of affecting life and agricultural work.

Weather Update: India Meteorological Department has issued warnings regarding rain and storm in many parts of the country. According to the department, the weather may worsen in about 9 states including Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir and Assam, due to which normal life is likely to be affected. During this period, strong winds with a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour are expected. There is also a danger of lightning falling, due to which people have been advised to remain alert.

The Meteorological Department also said that a cyclonic circulation is active at lower tropospheric levels in North-Eastern Bihar and surrounding areas, the effect of which is visible in the form of this change in the weather.

Rain alert issued in which states?

According to IMD, the 9 states where the weather is likely to worsen include—

    • Himachal Pradesh

 

    • Jammu and Kashmir

 

    • Assam

 

    • Meghalaya

 

    • Arunachal Pradesh

 

    • Tripura

 

    • Sikkim

 

    • west bengal

 

    • Odisha

 

In these states, there may be a situation of lightning and lightning along with heavy rain. Cyclonic circulation is said to be active in North-East Bihar and surrounding areas, which is making the weather more unstable.

Winds will blow at a speed of 50 km/hour

The Meteorological Department has warned that strong winds can blow at a speed of 40 to 50 km/hour in these states. Due to this, the risk of trees falling, power supply being disrupted and damage to unpaved structures has increased. There is a possibility of heavy rain and storm in many areas including Guwahati.

Increase in temperature and effect of heat

While on one hand there is a rain alert in many states, on the other hand the temperature is expected to rise rapidly in other parts of the country.

    • North-West India: Maximum temperatures may increase by 6 to 8 degrees Celsius between April 11 and 16.

 

    • Central India: Temperature may rise by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius by April 14.

 

    • Odisha and Chhattisgarh: Heatwave conditions may occur in some parts of Chhattisgarh between April 14 and 16. There is a possibility of heat wave in Odisha on 13 and 14 April.

In many parts of the country, two different forms of weather are being seen simultaneously – on one hand, heavy rains and thunderstorms in the North-East and hilly states, and on the other hand, the effect of increasing heat and heat wave in North and Central India. The Meteorological Department has clearly said that the next 15 hours can be important and challenging for many states.
