Taking a revolutionary step towards modernizing farming, the Government of India has launched ‘Kisan e-Mitra’ AI chatbot. This digital assistant will not only solve the problems related to PM-Kisan scheme, but will also show new ways of farming by talking in your own language.
What is ‘Kisan e-Mitra’ and how does it work?
‘Kisan e-Mitra’ is an Artificial Intelligence (AI) based voice-enabled chatbot. In simple words, it is a digital friend to whom you can ask questions by speaking or writing. It has been specially designed for those farmers who were not able to avail the benefits of government schemes due to technical complexities. This chatbot Bhashini is equipped with AI technology, which immediately understands what you say and gives answers based on accurate government data.
Language wall over: Will answer in 11 regional languages
The biggest feature of this chatbot is its multilingualism. Considering the linguistic diversity of India, it has been made available in 11 major languages like Hindi, English, Bengali, Odia, Tamil, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam. Now any farmer can get information 24×7 anytime in his regional language about the next installment of PM-Kisan, e-KYC status of bank account or problems faced in registration.

Farmers often had to visit CSC centers or tehsils to get answers to these questions, but now ‘Kisan e-Mitra’ will do the following work sitting at home:

Registration Update: Checking information related to Aadhaar seeding or bank account.
other plans: Answers to questions related to PM Crop Insurance Scheme and Kisan Credit Card (KCC).

The government aims to bring transparency in administrative work through this chatbot and reduce farmers’ dependence on officials. Till now lakhs of farmers have used this service, which makes it clear that rural India is now fully ready to adopt AI technology. This chatbot is not only solving problems but is also playing the role of an active advisor by making farmers aware about weather forecast and new agricultural techniques.
