IPL 2026: Was losing a wicket in the power play costly? Teams paid the price in 15 matches
If we look at the first 15 matches of IPL 2026, one thing is clearly visible that in many matches the first 6 overs of powerplay are setting the game of the match. Statistics show that the teams which could not keep their wickets in these initial overs had to face defeat in the end. The rapid fall of wickets in the power play not only puts a brake on the pace of scoring runs, but also puts unnecessary pressure on the middle order. Overall, a good start seems to be the biggest key to victory.
Note that in the first 15 matches of IPL 2026, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have played 4 matches and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have played 2 matches. All other teams have played 3-3 matches. As of now, the top 4 teams in the points table are Rajasthan Royals (RR), Punjab Kings (PBKS), RCB and Delhi Capitals (DC). Kolkata and Chennai are in the worst condition, they have not won a single match yet.
