New Delhi: The period of pleasant weather in the national capital Delhi is now over and the sun has started getting harsher. On Saturday (April 11), Delhiites will have to face hot and dry weather. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a possibility of strong surface winds during the day today, which may carry dust with them. Due to clear sky and strong sunshine, the maximum temperature is expected to reach 35 degrees Celsius today. Dusty winds will increase the problem, weather will remain dry. Saturday morning may have been a little cool, but the heat will increase as the day progresses. The minimum temperature today is expected to be around 19 degrees Celsius. Wind Speed: Due to strong winds, dusty conditions may prevail on the roads, which may be uncomfortable for respiratory and eye patients. Dryness: Humidity level may drop from 60% to 35%, making the air quite dry. Experts have advised to avoid dehydration (lack of water) in such weather. ‘Heat’ map of the next 5 days: Para will go up to 39 degrees. The speed of heat in Delhi is now moving towards heat wave like conditions. According to IMD’s forecast, the mercury will rise rapidly in the coming days: 12 April: Maximum temperature expected to be 36°C. 13 April: Temperature may rise to 37°C. 14 April: Mercury is likely to touch 38°C. 15-16 April: A period of extreme heat will begin and the temperature may go up to 39°C. Delhi’s AQI: Delhi in the ‘moderate’ category on the air pollution front. There is some relief. The air quality index (AQI) recorded on Friday was 141, which falls in the ‘moderate’ category. However, due to the dusty winds blowing today, a slight increase in the particulate pollution (PM10) can be seen at the local level. Necessary Precautions for Protection Although the Meteorological Department has not issued any official red alert, but in view of the increasing sunlight, it is important to take these precautions: Protection of eyes and face: Use sunglasses and mask while going out to avoid dust and strong sunlight. Stay hydrated: Drink enough water even if you do not feel thirsty. Consuming ORS or lemon water will be beneficial. Prevention in the afternoon: Children and elderly are advised to avoid exposure to direct sunlight between 12 noon to 4 pm.
