How to easily identify whether mango found in the market is dangerous for health?
With the arrival of summer, the markets are filled with colorful fruits and mango is the center of attraction among them. This fruit, called the ‘King of Fruits’, becomes the first choice of people of all ages due to its sweetness and taste, however, if care is not taken, this mango can prove to be harmful for your health. According to health experts, many mangoes sold in the market are cooked quickly, not through natural methods, but through chemicals, which can have serious effects on the body.
According to experts, naturally ripe mangoes have a special sweet and refreshing aroma, which can be felt from a distance. At the same time, this natural aroma is almost non-existent in chemically ripened mangoes. They also have an unusually uniform bright yellow color, which may look attractive, but may hide their true quality.
Scientists say that the color of natural mango is a mixture of light green and yellow and is completely ripe from inside, whereas artificially ripe mangoes often remain yellow from outside and raw from inside.
According to research, this can also be tested by putting mango in water. Naturally ripened mango is heavy and sinks in water, whereas chemically ripened mango is light and can float on top. Apart from this, when eating such mango, sometimes a burning sensation in the tongue or slight discomfort is felt in the throat, which is an indication that chemicals have been used in it.
Dangerous chemicals like calcium carbide are often used to ripen mangoes quickly. This releases a gas called acetylene, which is harmful for the body. Apart from this, it may also contain elements like arsenic and phosphorus, which can cause serious diseases if they remain in the body for a long time.
Doctors say that eating such mangoes can cause problems like stomach ache, vomiting, diarrhea, throat irritation and mouth ulcers. In some cases it can also cause shortness of breath, dizziness and sleep problems. Consuming such fruits for a long time can also affect the liver and kidneys. Continuous exposure to these chemicals can also increase the risk of serious diseases like cancer.
