Bengal Elections: Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s big promise, announced to send Bengal potatoes across the country after winning the elections
digital desk- Amidst the assembly elections in West Bengal, the issue of farmers is now becoming the center of political debate. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress government regarding the condition of farmers in the state. He alleged that due to the policies of the present government, farmers of the state, especially potato growers, are struggling to get fair prices for their own crops. Dharmendra Pradhan, citing the statement given by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah in Onda, said that he has put forward the real situation of the farmers of Bengal. He said that the farmers here work hard day and night, but they are not able to get the right price for their produce.
attacked TMC
Pradhan alleged that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s government, due to its “arrogance”, has prevented Bengal potatoes from going to Odisha, Jharkhand and other markets in the country. This has had a direct impact on the livelihood of farmers and they are facing economic crisis. He termed it a “ruthless policy” against farmers. He further said that during the TMC rule, the network of middlemen has continuously strengthened, while the real food provider continued to struggle for his rights. The farmers did not get the benefit of their hard work, but the middlemen continued to get it. However, he claimed that now the situation is about to change. Dharmendra Pradhan said that after the formation of the BJP government, the farmers of Bengal will get full value of their crops and respect for their hard work will be ensured. He said that this is not just an election promise but a resolve to restore the dignity of farmers.
Amit Shah also cornered TMC on potato issue
Earlier, while addressing the public meeting, Amit Shah had also targeted the state government. He said that potato farmers of Bengal are not getting fair price for their produce as the state government has banned its supply to other states. He assured that as soon as the BJP government is formed, potatoes from Bengal will be sent to Odisha, Jharkhand and the entire country. Amit Shah also announced that a state-of-the-art plant for producing potato seeds will be set up in Vishnupur by the Cooperative Ministry. With this, farmers will not need to import seeds from outside states, especially Punjab, and the cost of production will reduce.
