MG Windsor EV: New Commute Variant’s Price Revealed
To rival the soon-to-be-launched VinFast Limo Green electric MPV, JSW MG Motor India, without making a huge buzz, has launched the Commute EV in India. This particular version of the already successful Windsor has been launched with a price tag of Rs 13.49 lakh and has been launched specifically for fleet operators. Presently, the complete details of the features of this model have not been revealed by the company.
As mentioned, the MG Commute EV has been launched at a price of Rs 13.49 lakh, which is Rs 60,800 more affordable than the base variant Excite of the Windsor EV, which is priced at Rs 14.10 lakh. This lower price tag of the MG Commute EV will help fleet operators in reducing fleet acquisition costs.
This particular model has specifically been launched for taxi operators and fleet owners such as Ola, Uber, corporate mobility, and rental companies. Presently, the company has only revealed the pricing of the Commute EV. However, it has been reported that it will be offered with split-folding rear seats, 2 adjustable rear headrests, rear AC vents, and a boot lamp.

In terms of the differences on the outside, it will boast a set of 17-inch silver steel wheels without any wheel covers. The base Excite variant of the Windsor EV also gets the same size steel wheels, but they are finished in black and get a premium-looking dual-tone wheel cover.
It will also boast a large 604-litre boot, which will make it very convenient for fleet operators who use these vehicles for airport runs and luggage-heavy trips. Coming to the powertrain side of things, the MG Commute EV will offer the same 37.9 kWh battery pack and a front-wheel-drive electric motor. It will produce 136 PS and 200 Nm of torque.

As for the range, this particular battery pack offers an ARAI-certified range of 332 km. However, the real-world range is around 200–250 km on a single full charge, depending upon the driving style. EV driving range is affected by the number of passengers, AC and heating usage, lower tyre pressure, along with acceleration patterns.

The MG Windsor EV is currently one of the most popular affordable electric vehicles in India. Last month, in March, JSW MG Motor dispatched a total of 4,530 units. This sales figure also represents a 24 percent year-on-year growth, as in the same month last year, 3,641 units were dispatched. The Windsor EV has become the highest-selling product from MG.

As mentioned above, the MG Commute EV has been launched by the company to take on the soon-to-be-launched VinFast Limo Green. The Vietnamese electric carmaker will be launching the VF MPV 7 (for private buyers) and Limo Green (for fleet buyers). It will be offered with a 60.13 kWh battery pack, which will offer a range of more than 500 km.
This EV MPV will come powered by a front axle-mounted electric motor making around 204 bhp and 280 Nm. Notable highlights will include 18-inch alloy wheels, LED lighting, an all-black cabin, fabric seats with adjustable headrests, cupholders, a rotary dial, and a floating 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Most likely, it will be launched this month.
