The police had received secret information that a new gang of drugs and weapons had been sent to India from across the international border. Immediately after this, Batala Police laid siege and arrested the suspects. During this period, a large consignment of heroin and illegal weapons have also been recovered.
Initial investigation revealed that both the arrested smugglers were in direct contact with Pakistan-based handlers. This module was supplying narcotics and weapons through drones using encrypted apps.
