Strange game of weather in April: cold, heat wave too… why is the mood changing?

New Delhi: The weather has suddenly changed across the country, due to which people are facing two types of situations simultaneously. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning saying that many weather systems are active at this time, due to which the weather patterns have completely changed in different parts of the country.

On one hand, there is a threat of strong storm and heavy rain in many states, while on the other hand, the heat in the plains has made life difficult for the people. Due to the continuous increase in temperature, heat wave conditions are being created, due to which there is a possibility of life being affected.

Storm and rain alert in these states

According to the Meteorological Department, due to the effect of cyclonic circulation and active western disturbance, heavy rains are expected in many northeastern states including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala.

Strong winds can blow at a speed of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour in these areas. Along with this, there is also a possibility of lightning and hailstorm. The Meteorological Department has advised farmers to be especially cautious and take necessary steps to protect their crops.

Heat wave will increase in UP, Bihar and MP

The effect of heat is increasing rapidly in the plains of North India. As soon as the sky clears in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, the temperature is increasing by 5 to 6 degrees Celsius.

In cities like Lucknow, Kanpur, Patna and Gaya the mercury has reached around 40 degrees. There is a strong possibility of heat wave in these states in the coming 3 to 4 days.

Apart from this, ‘Yellow Alert’ has also been issued in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh regarding extreme heat between 14th and 17th April.

Condition of Delhi-NCR and Rajasthan

Delhi is currently under the influence of strong sunlight and dry winds. The maximum temperature here is expected to be between 35 to 37 degrees Celsius.

Whereas in Rajasthan, due to a new Western Disturbance, movement of clouds can be seen in areas like Jaipur and Bikaner. This may give people some relief from the heat, however this relief will not last long and soon the effect of heat wave will increase here too.

Danger of floods and landslides in Northeast

The weather condition in North-East India remains more severe. The risk of floods and landslides has increased due to strong winds and heavy rains in Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh.

There is a possibility of winds blowing at a speed of 70 kilometers per hour, which can worsen the situation. The local administration has advised people to stay in safe places and avoid unnecessary travel.
