All parties should unite on Nari Shakti Vandan Act, PM Modi wrote a letter to the leaders of all parties, sought support

New Delhi, 12 April. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written a letter to the leaders of all parties in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha on ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Act’, requesting their support. PM Modi said that we all should unite in one voice to pass this amendment and more and more MPs should present their views on this subject in Parliament. This occasion is above any one party or person. Prime Minister Modi said in his letter written on Saturday, “A historic discussion related to the Nari Shakti Vandan Act is going to be held in the Parliament of the country from April 16. This special meeting is an opportunity to further strengthen our democracy. This is an opportunity to reiterate the commitment of all of us to take everyone along.”

He said, “Any society progresses only when women get the opportunity to move forward, take decisions and lead. To achieve the resolution that the country has taken for a developed India, it is necessary that women power joins this journey with its full potential and full participation. We are all witnesses that the participation of our sisters and daughters in public life is continuously increasing. India’s daughters are making their mark in every field, from space to sports and from armed forces to start-ups. Their big thinking. And they work hard with full passion and are proving themselves.”

PM Modi said that women’s reservation has been discussed in the Parliament and Assemblies of the country for decades. He wrote in the letter, “In the year 2023, MPs from all parties in the Parliament came together and supported the Nari Shakti Vandan Act. This was an unforgettable occasion to show our unity. By doing so, we fulfilled our promise towards the women power of the country. At that time, the whole world saw how a major decision was taken in India’s democracy with the collective will.” The Prime Minister said that women power represents almost half of our population. Through this step we all agreed to his greater participation in politics. I look upon that day as an important and inspiring occasion in India’s parliamentary journey.

He further said, “All the members of Parliament had contributed to the discussion on the Nari Shakti Vandan Act. And while this discussion was going on, the timing of its implementation was also discussed. Then everyone unanimously expressed the view that the provisions of the new law should be implemented as soon as possible. Leaders of all parties vocally supported this idea. In the recent past, we discussed this topic with experts. We got suggestions and guidance from experts who understood the intricacies of the Constitution. We Have also communicated with the parties regarding this.”

In his letter to the leaders of political parties, PM Modi also wrote that after deep brainstorming, we have come to the conclusion that now the time has come that the Nari Shakti Vandan Act should be implemented in the country in its full spirit. It would be appropriate that the 2029 Lok Sabha elections and all assembly elections be held after full implementation of women’s reservation. This will infuse new energy into India’s democratic institutions and deepen public trust. Along with this, everyone’s participation and representation in the governance system will be ensured.

Appealing to all the political parties, he said, “Let us all unite in one voice to pass this amendment. More and more MPs should express their views on this subject in the Parliament. This opportunity is above any one party or individual. This is women power and also our responsibility for the coming generations. We all the parties have been wanting for a long time that the representation of women should increase in politics. This is the right time to convert this aspiration into reality.” PM Modi said that this is a matter of accomplishment of the women power of the country, a matter of accomplishment of 140 crore countrymen. I have full confidence that we will move forward unitedly and achieve this historic achievement in Parliament.

Prime Minister Modi wrote in the letter, “The members of Parliament who implemented the Nari Shakti Bandan Act will always be proud of the fact that they have contributed to this great work. Therefore, we should not miss this opportunity. Your support to the amendment in the Nari Shakti Bandan Act will be a discharge of immense responsibilities towards the mothers, sisters and daughters of the country.” He appealed and said, “Come, let us make the great traditions of our democracy more alive and take steps for this historic change.”
