Road accident in Katihar district of Bihar, 13 dead so far
Patna. So far, 13 people have been confirmed dead in a road accident that took place on Saturday evening on National Highway No. 31 under Kodha police station of Katihar district in Bihar.
The accident occurred near Datpur Mushari Chowk near Basgada Chowk when a high-speed bus going from Harda to Purnia collided head-on with a pickup van coming from the front. The accident was so terrible that two motorcycles passing by also got hit by it. In this accident, 10 people died on the spot, while 17 people were seriously injured. Both the vehicles were blown to pieces in the accident.
President expressed grief
Expressing grief over the accident, President Draupadi Murmu wrote on social media, “The news of death of people in a road accident in Katihar, Bihar is extremely painful. I express my condolences to the bereaved families and pray that all those injured get speedy recovery.
Prime Minister Modi expressed condolences
In a statement issued on the official Deepest condolences to all those who lost their loved ones. Wish for speedy recovery of the injured. The families of each deceased will be given an ex-gratia amount of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Security Force (PMNRF). Rs 50,000 will be given to the injured.
Chief Minister expressed grief
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed deep condolences on the accident. The Chief Minister said that this incident is very sad and I am heartbroken by it. The Chief Minister has directed to give ex-gratia grant of Rs 02-02 lakh to the dependents of the deceased from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and Rs 50-50 thousand to the injured. On the instructions of the Chief Minister, senior officials have reached the spot and are engaged in relief and rescue work. The Chief Minister has wished for the speedy recovery of those injured in the accident and has directed for proper treatment.
Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav also expressed grief over this incident.

Purnia SP Sweety Sehrawat said that 10 people have died in Katihar and three in Purnia Medical College Hospital. A team of doctors is engaged to treat the injured.
