‘I will protest…’ Former cricketers got angry over non-selection of this player in Team India, know what they said?

IPL 2026 : In the 19th season of the Indian Premier League, all the cricketers of the country and the world are making waves. Every day someone emerges as a hero in some match or the other. Even in the 18th match of IPL 2026, a star player of India created a stir. This player is none other than Shreyas Iyer, who is continuously performing brilliantly with the bat. Iyer had performed brilliantly in IPL 2025, even after this he was not included in India’s T20 team.

Shreyas Iyer is continuously performing brilliantly in T20 cricket. He had taken Punjab Kings to the final as captain in IPL 2025. He scored 604 runs with 6 half-centuries in 17 matches in IPL 2026. His highest score was 97 runs. Even after this he was sidelined from the Indian T20 team.

Iyer again showed the power of the bat

Now, while chasing the target of 220 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 11, in the 17th match of IPL, Iyer played an unbeaten inning of 69 runs with 5 fours and 5 sixes in 33 balls in difficult conditions and helped his team win by 6 wickets. Iyer’s strike rate during this innings was 209.09.

Will protest if Iyer doesn’t get a place – Manoj Tiwar

After this performance of Shreyas Iyer, former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwari has given a big statement on him not getting a place in the Indian T20 team. While talking with Cricbuzz, he said, ‘If this time Shreyas Iyer is not selected in the Indian team, then we will protest for him’.

During this, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag was also present in the discussion with Manoj Tiwari. He has also raised questions on Iyer not getting a place in Team India after his consistent performance in T20 cricket. Sehwag has supported Manoj Tiwari’s opposition to Iyer.

Sehwag also said a big thing about Iyer

Whereas Virender Sehwag said, ‘Shreyas Iyer had scored 50 runs in the last match also. He finished the game for Punjab Kings and he did the same in this match also. There is no doubt that their openers made a great start, but they did not finish the game for Punjab. I am surprised that even after reaching the finals of IPL 2025 and playing well regularly for Punjab Kings, he could not make a place in the T20 World Cup team. I hope that he will improve further and eventually make a place in Team India in the next T20 World Cup.
